Tranny Training

I been seeing some posts about retraining the tranny after installing a chip. I installed the Ts 6 position, but didnt know anything about teaching the tranny. Was/am I supposed to? How do I do it? Do I have to do it each time I turn the Knob? Thanks for the help in advance.
