exhaust system upgrade question

I want to put a 4" turbo back exhaust system on my 2000 F350, but I don't want it to be any louder than the stock system. Is this possible? If so, what kit/muffler combo will give me the increased flow without increased noise? Thanks for any help.

Have Banks installed by previous owner and truck cam from east coast, so exhaust looks pretty bad. Supposed to last?????? When I go for a new one it will be MBRP

These trucks are pretty loud stock anyway. Why not straight pipe it and squeeze all you can from your mod? Straight pipe isn't much louder than stock unless your romping on it (even then you can't hear much of a difference from inside the cab).

You are right in that the noise in the F350 is not exactly quiet, but that's exactly why I don't want to make it any louder if I can avoid it. I put a Magnaflow exhaust system on the F150 I used to own. The low frequency drone it added to the cab at tow speed on the highway drove me crazy. That's what I want to avoid.

The MBRP muffler works pretty well. I'd say it is a bit louder when you get on it, but I too wanted to avoid the "drone" you can get from a straight pipe. There's little performance, if any, gained anyway between the two.

You can't compare the experience you had with your F150 gas engine, the Turbo takes out So Much of the engine noise already and is the reason you can even go with a straight pipe.

Just to report in. I put the Diamond Eye 4" turbo back system on the truck.
It's very nice. Just slightly louder and slightly lower tone, but no loud drone at cruising speed. All good!
