Starter Upgrade

Before it hangs me out to dry, I'm going to replace it.

Anyone know a good place or brand to buy? I heard remans are crap also...and I'm looking for something possibly a bit bigger than the stock unit.

Cheers

I installed an Autozone Gold DLG5154 three years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. Its actually a Nippondenso gear reduction starter and it turns my engine over much faster than the stock starter did. Autozone warranties it for life so if it ever fails its a 20 min job to pull it out and go get a new one.

I looked for DB when I bought my truck but they don't advertise their high torque starter anymore?

I went to advance and bought a REMY (I think it was) "New" starter. Was made in USA, lifetime warranty, and was the newer high torque design. Spins much faster than the one on it prior, had 3 bolt holes and has been great. I was able to find a coupon code online so it was really cheap as well, I think around $100.

Alligator performance selle the Mean Green gear reduction starter. Pretty pricey though.

When I replace mine I am going with a gear reduction version; starts up a lot quicker.

The 6.0 might be one based on an earlier post.

Good luck!
