Ah, a Cali truck. I can't tell you what you should do since you not only smog, but you smog differently depending on where you live. With that, said... Stage 1 single shot injectors to start off with. You're going to need tunes to support that, or whatever else you do that isn't a filter and pipe. T500 HPOP is on my list, but it's not a "must have" with Stage 1. You can go 38r (with a WWgen2), WWgen2, or wait for new and improved whatnot. I can't, and wouldn't, tell you which brand you must get. I will say to buy from a reputable maker/tuner. It sucks for the good startup guys, but everyone began as a startup. Unless you have a buddy you're willing to test for, don't be a tester. Use tried and true.
What is your end goal? If it's big numbers, the answer will be much different than above. If it's DD, reliability, and better than as it came from Ford, then we're good.
