Edge Programmer Question

Hello all. I'm a huge gear head with a fairly good background in hot rod, GM LT/LS cars and motorcycles, but know next to nothing about diesels. I recently bought a 2002 F350 that I plan to keep as my tow rig. I can't wait to get familiar with diesel stuff. It needs a few things here and there but is ultimately in good shape with 180k on it and it has a built trans.

My question is this; It came with an edge programmer (not sure which model exactly) that the previous owner removed for smog purposes (Eff-U California). Is it okay to just plug that sucker in and put it back on the dash or is there anything else I need to do before reinstalling it. He said that all the wires are there under the dash, including the one for the pyrometer.

This truck needs all the help it can get to get the huge 22.5's rolling.

Thanks in advance!

i know you said you had a built trans but edge is horrible on transmissions.

plus their tuning runs a little hot (egts)

i would get a custom chip from gearhead, dp tuner, php better shifts more power. lower egts.
