New air filter

So i recently bought my truck about 1500 miles ago and it has a cold air intake. now the rubber end of the filter says OEM DRY FILTER but the silver bars that support the filter say K&N so maybe I just don't know as much about filters as I thought or somethings up. Anyway its pretty beat up. Not that there are holes but its seen better days. what type of filter should I get to replace it? I've always been partial to K&N for all my other trucks but they were all gas. I've heard people say not to by K&N or any other oil base filters. Can someone please explain why that is also? Dumb question I'm sure, but as I stated in other threads I'm still learning. Thanks yall

For the money very hard to beat the Wix 6637 (or cross reference)... can easily handle 40-60k service internals and are very economical especially if you buy online.

the oiled filters just let more stuff through.
your relying on the oil to catch particles and it does not do as good a job as a straight dry filter.
these motors suck in a huge amount of air.
plus its not fun to clean and oil your air filter all the bloody time
