resistor mod + switch

new guy here... soon to be owner of a 2001 250 7.3. so i understand the whole 10k resistor mod... after reading further ive stumbled on to info of people using multiple resistors of different values and a switch to select between them and even stock... my question is how would you wire this up? im guessing you have to run the wires all the way back into the cab?
