I personally have not ran a phatshaft or know anyone that has so I cannot comment on that turbo. I will tell you the Garrett BB has been around for a long time and had pushed 500+ HP . At around $1600 for the Garrett I would be will to bet its cheaper too. The Garrett is also a drop in turbo meaning you don't have to change anything else out on your truck. I'm not sure thats the case with the Phatshaft.

what are your HP goals and what are your current mods??

Turbonetics BB or Garrett 38R seem to be the most common upgrades for medium power...
between 350-550 rwhp. |

I got bully dog power pup with monitor 4inch exhaust and afe stage 2 intake. Wanna be running around 400hp 2 the wheels wanna do injectors 2 and wanna do the highest injector hp on the stock oil and fuel system...

Stage 3 hybrids with SMALL NOZZLES and DETUNED will easily get you 400 rwhp...
BUT you're going to have to loose the power pup and get custom tuning. I suggest DP TUNER or Tony Wildman. 400 hp at the wheels will eventually break your PMR rods... so you should start saving for a new short block in the mean time. Otherwise you'll end up like me -->

if your looking at over 500 HP i would reccomend a different rout than the GT38......300-400 (at the wheels) it can be a good option though...

Well whats a safe hp on the stock block?

38R's have pushed 500+ on fuel but is out of it's map range.
500+ also costs 10+ grand though, especially for a PMR block... |
