6.0 Cooler vs. TruCool

It appears from RockAuto I can get a 6.0 cooler for just over $200. I understand it is about $70 more expensive than the TruCool, and is supposed to be a direct replacement for the 7.3 cooler.

Thoughts on which one to go with? I like having a direct replacement versus another piece of equipment.

Does the 6.0 work better by itself, or the TruCool with the 7.3 cooler in series?

Thanks in advance....

Use the 6.0, it bolts right in and easy to install just got to get a couple fittings and some hose. It is huge compared to the stock cooler. Spend the extra money and go for it.

The question is who makes the 6.0L cooler that you're finding on Rock Auto. From what I've seen it says "Various MFR", so it is not OEM. Does anyone have experience with a Dorman or other 6.0L transcooler for comparison to the OEM?

Ive had both and im currently running a 6.0 cooler for obvious reasons.
Tru cool and stock cooler i was running around 180* i now run down around 140*

both were with the BTS trans and similar conditions. In talking to the trans builder himself the flow of fluid is much better with the 6.0 cooler due to the larger lines also the oem cooler is huge. well worth it

This is useful information! I have been going back and forth between the 6.0 cooler and the Tru cool. Up until this post, I had not seen an actual comparison with data, just a lot of opinions.

This post here seals the deal for me.

the tru cool was a total waste didnt even drop temps much more than the stock cooler, when i put the 6.0 cooler on wow what a difference, im not even exagerating i can tow 10k through the hills in 100* heat and not have a tranny temp over 185* thats with big tires and stock gearing...
