PHP Hydra Issue

Thought I would try this here.

Installed the Hydra this weekend with the 65 HP DD as the only tune. Truck starts just fine in the 00 Position, but when I switch it to the 01 Position it dies. Before I turn the ignition off, I change back to the 00 Position, turn off the ignition, and then start the truck back up with no problem. I do this while sitting in my driveway. Did not want to attempt driving at this point.

Have cleaned the contacts with scotch-brite (easily) and fingernail polish remover. The contacts appear to be very clean with no copper showing.

Thoughts?

Sure did. I also sent an e-mail to support. We shall see. Do you have any thoughts?

I will be in the office at 9:00 and begin reading emails, but I believe I can help you out now.
the issue you are seeing is commonly due to a mismatch of files from your box code to the hex code on the file you applied to your chip. If you will, can you list what box code you have on your ECM and what file you loaded into your hydra?

Thank you
Jay

Thank You Jay. If I understand you correctly I went from VDH4 to TNAA5S8, which pointed me to TNAA4S2. Are these the numbers you are referring to?

You are using the correct hex code for your VDH4.

If you will follow these next few steps:
turn your ignition to the on position without starting the truck
turn your hydra to position 1
wait several seconds for the led to flash to indicate change has been made
wait a couple more seconds then start the motor.

If this fixes your issue, what your problem is a result of is a computer reflash. At some point your truck was likely taken into ford and the ECM was updated. For lack of effort, they often do not update the sticker found on your ECM thus leaving you with the old box code.

When switching between tunes, do not shift your tunes in and out of 00 position with the truck running. We are aware that several customers are having this issue and we have written the next update to solve this problem for you. You will just need to remain conscious of this when changing in and out of your 00. We do have a stock file written for your hex that you can switch in and out of at your will.

you are welcome to call me at 678-890-1110 ext 304 if you have any more questions

thank you
Jay

Thanks to all, and especially Jay at Power Hungry Performance. It appears to be all about the clean contacts. Removed my ECM again, and had my lady go over it one more time. Of course it worked when she did it.

Just wanted to close this out for everyone who searches for this issue.

I now see what everyone has been saying about this chip after driving my truck!!!!
