Turbomaster Wastegate Controller
I will be installing my chip next week, and I am concerned about the overboost and the activation of the SES. I know and understand that a "map fooler" or boost relief valve will cure this.
If I install a Turbomaster Wastegate Controller, from Dieselsite.. would this work to correct the overboost and prevent the activation of the SES, or would I have to install the boost relief valve in conjunction with the Turbomaster???? |

you would only need the boost relief valve to keep from tripping the SES

How do you like your Turbomaster??? What if I set Turbomaster at approx. 22-24 psi??? Would the MAP Fooler still be needed???

the turbomaster works very well. I suppose you could set it to 22psi but why? I would still do the map fooler with the turbomaster its only 45 bucks more and you will NEVER trip the SES light. Your safe to 25psi witht the stocker. Everybody with a chip runs a map fooler. I use the ITP one. Works very well

You "could" set the Turbomaster to 22 and you would not set an SES light and would not need the BRV, but you are leaving a lot of hp on the table. The stock turbo is still efficient to about 26, but that would be enough to set the light. The best scenario is to use the TM to set your max boost for control and to use the BRV to control your MAP from seeing that boost, but that assumes you have more than 24lbs of boost capabilities in your mods. if 22-24 is your goal then just tighten up your factory wastegate actuator or take the red line off of it and buy nothing doesnt make much sence but if thats all your wanting you can do it for free myself id got with better wastegate and a boost fooler youll easily hit 30psi with a chip and somewhere around 24-26 w/o a chip

is the turbomaster wastegate controller basically the same as the banks big head actuator? if so whats the difference? and which works the best?

I got a factory waste gate and early 99 turbo with a $1 4.7v Zener diode and could hold 28-30 psi with the off the shelf TS chip and stock injectors and 30-32 with my new injectors. My buddies 01 with a predator programmer can hold 30 psi and he is stock also except for straight pipe, DIY intake, and Zener diode. If I understand it right a stock 7.3 engine can hold 40 psi boost with no problems? I don’t see any need for wastegate actuators, boost controllers, or $50 map foolers.
