Transmission Upgrades

Hey guys, I have a 4r100 and I am looking to upgrade it some. Well here, Ill just pose my base question. I am getting a free rebuild under warranty from my builder. He will completely rebuild it replacing all the broken or worn parts with new stock ones for free. I want to upgrade some of these parts however and have about $1500 to do so (this includes the TC). So I want to find the best combination of parts and a TC for my application that will be under that $1500. I use my truck for a daily driver, and I want it to last. But i also want to take it to the track a couple times to see what she can do. I want a transmission that will hold up to 400-500 hp for many miles.

Wow that sounded really demanding haha. Iv made a parts list with a bunch of stuff. I know alot of the options overlap and what not but here is a list with prices and links to each part. Hopefully you guys (who are awesome btw) can help me decide what I do and dont need.

Transmission Upgrades

I'm subscribing because my plan is to do a rebuild in the future by I also have a question. Not to derail the thread but when I shift into drive, the selector seems pretty weak. Almost like the shifter is worn out. I'm at 95k in an 02. Does this sound like a cable problem or is this a neutral safety switch/trans shift mechanism problem. I fix my dads old gasser with the same problem by replacing the switch. Shoot me some ideas and I'm looking forward to the input on the trans build.

Lay under your steering column, and look at the bottom of the shift rail. There are 2 torx screws holding a bracket on. Check to see if they are tight. Mine came loose last year, sounds like a similar problem.

I would look at a diesel performance converter, bts valve body, both shafts from JW. Or go to E4OD, 4R100 Transmission from PATC, E4OD, 4R100 and look at item #k100 that has a lot of what you are looking for.

Sold 2001 f250 ccsb 4x4 400/400, dual terminators, swamps 80mm bfh, headers, bts and all the usual supporting mods. 715hp fuel only.

Just an update from my end, the bolts were loose under the column. Tightened them up and I'm good to go. Now if I can just get that bell housing to shatter before the warranty is up....
