10K resistor mod help
I'm thinking about doing the 10k mod to the ICP and I'm wondering if the 10k is still the best to use? Also is this mod safe on a stock truck? Also is the mpg any better?
Thanks |

the 10K is fine to use, I ran it for a while and I did see a very small increase in milage but you have to keep your foot out of it, yeah right...this mod is safe for a stock truck but you realy need guages the EGTs will get out of hand quickly under hard eccelaration and it will tend to make your auto trans run a little warmer than usual at least it did in my truck.

I alright i just did the 10k Mod and it works great, right now i'm using a 5.6K resistor and it has a noticable difference in power but the idle is lopy. I'm wordering if it ok to keep this set up with out gauges. I plan on getting gauges soon but not right now. Is this mod going to hurt my truck in any way? Should I just wait for gauges?
Thanks |

It shouldnt hurt at all but i would get gauges asap you should be fine if you dont hold it wide open for two long just keep it under control. I did it and never had a problem with temp unless i was pulling a steep grade with a trailer

You want the gauges where you can see them without having to look too long.

Ok I have 10k mod installed for about a 5 days now. I used a 5.6k resistor. I have noticed a huge increase in mpg, acording to the overhead console. I haven't had the chance to do the math by hand yet, but before I installed the mod the overhead console was dead on. I was averaging about 16.5 without the mod and now with the mod installed it says 21.
Is this ok. I don't want to be hurting anything on my truck. Do you think I should just stick with the 10k resistor? Thank You |
