the edge evo made a 5 mpg improvment with ext and intake and a good gain in power .A custom chip would make more power though

I have a chip from Tony Wildman, www.totaldieselperformance.com. On the economy tune I get 15 mpg around town and 20 highway at 70 mph, 75-80 mph the mpg rate drops down quickly. Basically keeping the boost low is the trick. Pulling the 31' 5th wheel in either of the two tow programs I average between 11-13 depending on the wind and terrian.

I have no chip yet, but 90% highway with the cruise set at 55mph I get just over 22mpg, hand calculated, using almost 35 gallons of fuel.

After taking a ride in a fellow org members truck, I WILL be getting a chip ASAP. Thats was night and day difference. Then again, also comparing my stock 7.3 to erics race tune on a 6.0. Still, I'm gettin a chip.

TW chip should be here this week. I decided on the TW after doing a lot of research and questioning org. members. Bottom line is the TW is the best choice for a 7.3 hands down.

With a 6.5" lift and 35"s, I can get 14 MPG if I baby it. And that is hand calculated and adjusted for tire size using a GPS. (7% in my case.) Typically, I only see 12-13 MPG.

I keep meticulous (sp?) records and will be able to report back any increase in fuel economy after the chip installation next weekend. (I am also switching to Amsoil from front to back the following week.)

I figure if I can get a couple of MPG increase it will pay for all this in 2-3 years!

Now that I am subscribed to this thread, I'll post my results as I get 'em.
