OK, I need some help removing the resistor out of the IDM. I got the lid off of the IDM, located the resistor that needs to be removed, I cant see any visable solder left on it, but I cant get the resistor out. I scratched the circuit board messing with it, so I plugged it back in on the truck, and the truck still runs, so no damage...so far. ANY ADVICE would be greatly appreciated...
i dont remember clearly but i think i used a pair of small needle nose pliers and gently grabbed the resistor from the sides and fiddled a bit with it....
Depending on the year of your truck, the stock IDM will be either 100v, 110v, or 120v. When you determine which IDM your truck has, you then need to solder in the correct resistor to bump the voltage up to 140v. You got to look at the tag on you IDM and see what it has for voltage, then get the correct resistor to make it 140v.
its really pretty easy to do, you just gotta be careful and have steady hands. No question at all it definetly made my throttle response MUCH better, even with all the stuff in my sig. I would say its well worth it for the $0.15 part and about 1 hour time.
does anybody have a breakdown of which resistors to get depending on what voltage the idm is? ive also heard not to run the typical radio shack resistors to order some nice ones from a good electronic shop but im not positive on that
