How much can the stock 4R100 handle?

I'm looking at doing some minor up grades to my truck and was wondering how much can my trans take?

I have a trans, pyro and a boost gauge so no problem there and I also have a mag-hytech trans pan.

I do a lot of towing during the summer and I'm in FL so it gets hot. The heaviest thing I tow is a 6000lb boat

What trans mods do i need to do and what tunes would you guys recommend?

It'll take a 1000ft lb tq.

Get a custom chip, and a valve body. I used PHP chip and JW valve body. Works great.

There are several reputable makers of both, search around on the forums and figure what you want.

I didn't do anything to the TC. If I blow up the tranny, I'll get a built one, with a new TC.

I have:
45 dd
65 tow
100 performance
120 race
whisper
anti-theft

I would change it to:
80dd
65tow
80tow
100 performance
high idle
whisper

Once I make more mods, my list may change, but as a stock setup, that's what I would change it too. I'm not getting enough air to make good use of the 120race over the 100 perf. Plenty of throttle left, but just smoke as an output.

*Edit, you do notice a slight difference in throttle response between the 100perf and 120 race though. I just prefer the 100 for how I drive.

Also, add a 6.0 tranny cooler

it is a direct bolt in but you have to splice the hoses

The valve body is the brains behind all of the shifting. It decides when to release pressures for all upshifting and down shifting. It can make you have sloppy shifts, firm shifts, rough shifts, sad shifts, or happy shifts.
