Edge backdown help. please help.
Will the backdown protect my engine completly? I have egts set at 1290 and boost at 22 psi. I just looked at my record and had 100% backdown, all that means is that it protected my motor correct? Im definatly a worrier and need some clerification to ease my nerves.

it will auto defuel your truck whenever your egt's or boost get to that level... more than likely your hitting the boost faster than the EGT.... i would put your boost at least 25psi....

so i should be ok? as in the 100% backdown does not mean that i screwed something up?
my boost is set at 22. my tires spun for probably 10 feet off the line at a stop light. Im not the smartest tool in the shed. |

All the backdown means is that the Edge was pulling its program out to keep it with in the limits that you set for it. At 100% back down the Edge pulled all of it tuning out of the truck and was running the stock program.

ranajo with your edge how do you handle your back down. does it happen alot and do you freak when you here it? or is it more of a " hey back off alittle or we will do it for you"
so backdown does not equal damage? |

Yep, but I do agree with Raul. You need to bump up the boost limit to around 25#s; also remember the the PCM will start defueling when your boost gets up to around ~26#s give or take. I would also bring the EGT limit down to 1250° to be a little safer on the turbo temps, but thats just me.

On my attitude screen i have never seen the backdown ever do anything, but in the records section it always says 20% backdown. I have been wondering about this myself, so heres a bump and hopefully get some more help.

I don't ever have my Edge turned up passed level 1 or 2 with the low boost fuel at level 1 any more. The novelty has pretty much wore off for me and the wallet didn't like it either with the fuel price increase.
I can still get it to back down, but I don't worry about it. |
