Plans for early 7.3...Would like opinions please!

Hello everyone,

So I am now getting into more technical and expensive part performance for my truck. I have a few plans for it and want your guys input/experience.

I am looking into getting a t500 HPOP, a riffraff generation 2 FrX, Stage II hybrid injectors, g38r , but also heard about a S366?? I want to be over 500hp closer to 600hp. It will not be a daily driver after I am done with everything so I am not worried about that and money will come and go so no issue there either. I will save up for whatever I have to and earn it the right way.

If you are shooting for that HP you will at least need stage 3 injectors. I would also recommend doing a full regulated return instead of the FRx. This will give you the ability to adjust your fuel pressure and it will give you the amount of fuel you need. The GTP38R is a great turbo, but if you are looking for that kind of power, a T4 style turbo would be a better suit.

Ok ya i was not sure wether to do the full regulated return or the frx. But what you are saying makes sense. And what style t4 turbo would you think would work best?

What is an srp1.1? Probably a dumb question sorry.


But I really dont have a high or low budget. I am going to save up for everything so I dont have one set. If I want a great turbo I am going to need big money and that is okay with me. It will just take some time and I want to solidify my plans early on so I know exactly what I need to get.

you definitly will need bigger injectors than stage 2's, and the gtp 38r isnt gonna do it either , need maybe a s472 , regulated return with maybe fuel bowl delete and at a minimum and air dog set up, or even the aeromotive fuel pump setup ,
every truck is a little different ,but the main thing is to do your research and buy what you need one time so less experimenting and r and d , may want to even consider a bottom end girdle , 600 horse is more than what most people think to get out of a 7.3

I would estimate at least 13k min to get on the lower end of your power goals.
BTS trans= 5k
fuel system= 1k estimate
injectors= 1800
studs springs pushrods= 900
turbo= 2500
srp1.1= 900
odds and ends shiz... $$$

Wiser individuals will add whats missing to the list, but it gives you an idea at what your looking at.

Well it looks like I will be strayin away from original plan. Go with stage 3s and I bigger turbo. Also who makes the best regulated return system?
