FINALLY BUYING A 7.3!where to even begin...
grabbng a 99 f250 ext cab lariat this weekend.. heres a little info:
- f350 rear leafs with 3in lift block. Leveling kit up front. - im told there is an issue with the pitch of the rear axle because of the lift.. WHERE DO I BEGIN TO FIX THAT? 211k miles on it. what should there be things i should clean out that could be clogged (like ebp tube and what not) looking for the most gas mileage possible.. OH YEA>.. Guy saidhe getting 19mpg on the truck. ((DOUBT THATS POSSIBL STOCK) but says it has 4in turb back exhaust (no cat or muffler) and guages (boost egt and something else.. NO PROGRAMMER) so ill have around 2000 to dump into it right off the bat.. which some of that willbe allocated to 05 conversion (as long as i can figure out how that will ork with my meyers setup.. everything matchin up and what not) BTW.. he said when he did put a bullydog on it the trans shifted odly and slight over rev so he took it off.. hmm.... |

So far my list is:
- Rotella 5w40 t6 synthetic oi change - Fumoto Drain Valve F111N - OEM Trans Filter and Fluid Flush - CAT ELC Radiator and Engine flush - CAT 80w90 Gear oil in both diffs (maybe ill do synthetic.. any thoughts???) |

Check the owners manual for what gear oil to use, especially in the rear. I believe it calls for 75w140 full synthetic. If it is limited slip you have to add the friction modifier.

I do know if you put 80-90 in the front end when it gets cold out it will sound like somebody threw a wrench in your pinion gear..... Trust me, I know, it wasn't good.

i'd be checkin the tranny fluid first, if it smells burnt i'd walk away, you don't know how long that bullydog was on there before he decided to take it off.

thanks for the heads up.. what about te rear axle issue.. im hoping he just put the rea blocks in the wrong way so thats wy the pitch is off .. what u think>?
