Exclamation Stupid turbo question.

Ok I was told when I bought my truck it had a 38r ball bearing turbo. It is loud, it whistles way more than other 7.3s around and when you kill the engine it even makes the spooling down sound of a ball earring turbo but I looked on the passenger side of the turbo and with a flashlight I entered the part number 702012-0010 and it says its a GTP38. I'm confused. Is there a way to tell???

Please help!!!!

Could be stock with a wicked wheel in it(pre99.5 compressor wheel) and a straight pipe.

I searched that model # to and it returned at GTP38(stock) turbo.

That's the way to tell. You have a stock turbo. It probably just has a wicked wheel.

Okay that number was on the passenger side of the turbo. It's just weird. Next weird thing is I have new in the box compressor wheel with the part number 170293 stamped in it. That according to the net is a wicked wheel that he gave me with the truck

That is the 38R. The 38r is also known as the GTP38R.

But I wonder why the sticker on the other side has the factory part number.
