Ok I have a 2002 7.3, crew cab, short box, that just broke 120,000. I would like to break the 400hp mark at the wheels, but my main goal is as much mpg gain as I can get. Now I know the basics, light-right-foot, gauges, pipe, intake and chip. But what else?
The truck doesn't get driven every day, but I need it to be as reliable as possible. So I don't know what else I would need to do to keep the PMR's and the Automatic Tranny intact? Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Oh I forgot to add that I live in Montana so I don't have the luxury of a diesel shop nearby that can really tune my truck so every thing works perfectly with each other.
Thanks again |

Looking forward to reoly's! Just put my AIS on literally an hour ago. A few days ago I put on an MBRP 4" turbo back. Trying to achieve the same as you, I am now subscribed to this thread.

23 mpg is out of the question. At those power levels you will need transmission upgrades also.

23mpg on the highway at 60mph? You don't think that's possible?
What tranny mods would you recommend? Thanks for the help man |

A built trans from bts would be the best bet, they have a lifetime warranty on theirs trans and seem to hold together well. |

Lower it, make it aero dynamic, run gearing right around 1750 or so, little rolling resistance, and make it very light.
It'll make it useless as a pickup. I made my Samsung SGH-I997 send this. |

As for $5k getting you to 420hp, definately should. I built my truck for close to that amount of money. But getting 23mpg, doubt it.

Ok so at the best 20mpg, I'm fine with that I just need way more then what I'm getting now. What do you guys recommend for achieving the HP while still keeping the truck rely able?
