Programer w/ Gauges OR Chip + Gauges

I've been trying to decide whether a programer with internal gauges (Edge Juice w/ attitude or equal) would be better than a DP / TW chip and doing seperate gauges.

Are the readings on the monitor more/less/equally accurate when compared to dial gauges?

Which is safer for my engine (programer or DP / TW chip)? Which provides the better fuel economy / power / etc.? Does the programer adjust tranny pressures? It seems to me that Jody and Tony have "dialed in" the air/fuel (among other things) a little better than one of those programers but I don't know?

I'm not towing much (less than 6k lb) and not very often. She's my daily driver and highway queen - I just want to be able to monitor my temps / boost as well as increased hp/torque/mpg obviously.

i would have to say go with the SCT livewire. It has all the gauges built in and it has awesome power. It also has parameters that you can set for your tranny and if you want you can even have an SCT certified shop do a custom tune for you. I was skeptical when i first signed up on this forum and everyone raved about the Livewire. I purchased one last week and installed it over the weekend with the pyro kit and i was amazed. I have had the six guns with PDA and the triple dog from Bully dog and they definitely don't compare to the Livewire. Thats my 2 cents.

Dp Tuner Jody Tipton

Welcome to Elite Diesel Engineering Tadd Layton

All are the best three tuners for the 7.3... SCT is great for a 6.0, but not so much for the 7.3. They work great, but why take 5 minutes to change a program when you can do it in less then 1 second on a chip?

Dont get me wrong.. i think Edge Evo is the best programmer out their for the 7.3L but as far as custom chips are concerned the TW out performs it...

something to think about with these all n one units that have gauges and tunes in one package. What happens when something goes wrong with one feature? You have to without your tunes and gauges while it is being repaired. Plus these small readouts require you to keep your eyes off the road longer to read. It is a fact that a digital readout takes longer for the eye to read than digital. Especially when your eyes get older. I much prefer seperate units. As far as tunes go, any tune from a custom tuner like Tony or Jody will blow all the generic tunes out the door. I have never heard of one person who has tried both and prefered the tunes by a generic company. Custom tuners can tune to your specific needs, they adjust many more parameters than the generic tunes. I myself chose DP but TONY also provides some great tunes and there are a few others, but I don't want this to go to the "who's better" type of thread. Good Luck
