PHP Phoenix vs. Beans 6 position

I'm relatively new to the diesel scene and I'm looking to get a chip for my 2000 7.3 and I think I have it narrowed down between the PHP Phoenix and Beans diesel 6 position, but i can't decide between the two. Can someone help me please??

I am running the custom PHP tunes on my Hydra chip and I love them. Such an improvement over a stock truck or even just a TS chip. I havnt tried Beans tuning so I cant say anything good or bad about them.

What do you have done already to the truck?

The only things done to the motor are a spectre cold air intake and a 4" turboback exhaust.

I just received my beans chip in the mail today. I can't wait to get it installed. I went with beans simply because I couldn't find a single unhappy customer and those who have them rave about them. your mileage may vary.

You'll read a lot of recommendations from people saying you have to get "custom tunes" to do it right. BUT, the stock tunes are for stock engines and, with just an exhaust & filter, that's You (notice Countryboy's sig. he Needs those custom tunes)

I would think, for the $295, PHP Phoenix would be the way to go. I'm assuming Beans is more - right?

p.s. get a different filter for your air intake. spectre is garbage search around for a better filter.

I'm in the same boat as you deciding between Beans and PHP. From what I've read, feedback from both outfits is positive, most everyone who buys from either two is completely stoked about the tunes. Beans has made the descision more difficult by dropping his price closer to PHP now though. From what I can tell you'll be happy with either one.

For just a cold air intake and exhaust you dont need custom tunes...

I have nothing bad to say about the Hydra what soever, I really like mine a-lot. The customer service is very nice, although it is hard to get a hold of them as they are always very busy. I would recommend it, as I like being able to get my tunes online instead of having to send my chip back for re-burns. The software to put the tunes on your hydra chip is very easy to use.

Agreed... I would highly recommend running a 6637 filter. Check out RiffRaff for their kit.
