Should I do this?
Looking to do some upgrades to my truck. Plan to start with the bellowed up-pipes, new waste-gate, and FRx. While I have the turbo off to replace the up-pipes and waste-gate, I am most likely going to change the pedestal to a non-EBPV. I don't have designs on putting bigger injectors in the truck, so should I just stick with the stock turbo? Will an upgraded turbo really get me anything if I don't upgrade the injectors and get tunes? If I upgrade, I want to do all this at one time while I have the truck apart. I usually never pull more than 6,000 pounds. Just wondering if I should just put the 38R on while it is apart. Of course that drives the price up.
Thanks in advance... |

Performance wise the bottleneck will still be fuel. The 38R spools a little better and helps with EGTs. Other than that you won't see much gain. Is there some reason you are replacing the waste-gate? The best bang for the buck would be some good tunes. If you really don't want to do injectors I personally don't think upgrading the turbo is going to net you ~$1400 worth of gain.

The stock turbo is fine for stock injectors. If your not putting in the supporting mods, don't waste the money on a turbo.
