waste gate

Do I really need a waste gate for boost 40 psi and under? I am looking to get a new turbo and other mods and was wondering if I go over 40 psi boost I could add a waste gate later.

I would say research the new turbo to find its ideal back pressure with the 7.3. Waste gates don't really regulate boost so much as back pressure. Wish I could help more (I don't know that much about 7.3's)

I think I will be getting a 38R but I have not figured out what injectors to get yet. I do not know if the 38R comes with out a waste gate.

You can put a 1.15AR or 1.0AR housing with no wastegate but the stock 1.0AR has one.

I personally don't think I would do non-wastegate less than 1.15.

Is there some reason you don't want a wastegate on there? It comes stock with one and you have to pay more to get rid of it.

the reading I have been doing tells me an external waste gate would be much better then the internal one that is on it now, and I have read that some people just unhook it. To me it looks like a lot of exhaust turbulence going on right there. I am making my own down pipe for it and yes I am getting very technical about it but I have time to think and make the air in and out just a little better it would be cool. I am thinking out side of the box.
