SCT tuner questions
Hi I am new to the 7.3 powerstroke I recently owned the 6.0 and still have my sct livewire tuner. I was wondering if there were any good custom tunes for the 7.3 I could load onto the sct tuner or should I sell it and buy something else.

I don't know if the same tuner will work but if it will call up matt and gearhead, you will love his tuning.

I have the livewire on mine. I got my tunes from More Power Tuning. I have also got some good tech support from Mike there.

What tune did you go with and did you feel much difference over the pre loaded tunes on the sct.

I would probably stick to a tuner that is a site sponsor, there are a lot of guys that "know how to tune" a truck and there are guys that know what they are doing. For the safety and longevity of the motor go with a known reputable tuner.

I did notice a big differance over the pre loaded ones. They also need info from my ecm to make the custom tunes work better. I picked out the "bazooka" engine tune with the "race" mode for the transmission, it shifts hard and is a as fast as she will get, for when I am looking to run it all out. Then I chose the "Performance Economy" engine tune with "chill" as the trans tune, its my daily driver tune. It shifts very nice but is a little more firm than stock and will still roll out very well with my EGTs always staying below 1200. Then my last tune I use is "light towing" engine tune with "chill" trans tune. Its for when I have my camper on but it is ment for loads less than 5k. When I do heavy towing I run in stock mode or the pre loaded towing tune.

I do alot of trips less than 10 miles and I noticed a 2 mpg increase with the "Performance economy" tune as long as I keep my foot out of it.

I would try the "bazooka" engine tune as my economy tune if I would have went with the "chill" trans tune as opposed to the "race" mode for the transmission. That "race" mode really lets you bang the gears fast, but it too hard for me as a daily driver. They say as long as you keep your foot out of it you can get better fuel economy with the "bazooka" tune also. But I also see my EGTs climb pretty fast with that tune also so be for warned.
