want to ditch air raid filter for 6637

I have searched and not found an exact answer. I have a an air raid intake with a large cone filter that is open on the top of the box. I am wanting to ditch my air raid filter for a 6637 filter. My question is do i have to ditch the whole intake or can I just replace the filter. I am wanting to do it this week end with the oil change but do want to get the filter if im going to have to replace the intake
