Aluminum of Stainless exhaust questions??
would a aluminum exhaust have lower egt's then a stainless??? sense aluminum displaces heat fast????

The exhaust is moving so fast that any difference would be negligable.

yah, neither will matter in EGT's -- only real advantage is looks and longevity certain climates

the EGT's are produced in the combustion chamber so what ever exhaust you had would make no difference. the only difference in the metals is the longevity like brant mentioned.

You don't actually want the exhaust piping to dissipate heat. The higher the temperature, the faster the exhaust gasses flow. That's why you see high temp tape wrap or ceramic coatings.
I don't know of anyone offering actual aluminum exhaust for the Powerstroke trucks. Probably what you are looking at is aluminized steel. An all aluminum exhaust kit would be hella expensive. |
