edge tranny temp question

I have the edge evo 1 and i just want to know if the tranny temp readout from the edge is accurate or not. My truck is an 01 so no factory dash gauge. The temp on the display moved around and fluctuated like a normal real working gauge would do. So it leads me to believe that it is accurate, but if others have opinions i would like to hear em. This will help me decide if i need to order a tranny temp gauge when i get my gauges or if i don't have to worry about one. Thanks

Well, Here is what I can tell you....I have an Edge Evolution (that I have since quit using) but after I got my gauges I compared the two just because I was curious. The trans temp was very close to the same throughout the range mine normally sees, up to about 160 degrees or so. However mine has a readout for tansmission line pressure and it is obviously not even close, since it runs around 25psi and doesn't change. It was like that before and after my suncoast trans.....Whatever.

When I use Auto Engunity on my PSD, I see that the factory sensor for the trans temp (there is apparently one even though I don't have a gauge) is fairly close to what my Autometer gauge says that's located in the pressure test port of the trans.

So I would assume Edge is reading the trans temp from this same factory sensor as I can see with Auto Engunity, unless there is a separate sending unit that came with the Edge for the trans temp. Just a hunch.

When I had the Evo., it was very close to my aftermarket trans temp gauge.
PERSONALLY, I would still get a aftermarket trans temp gauge but it is purely up to you.
