An Exhausting Question...

Slid under the truck yesterday for the first time since purchase...noticed there was no Cat...then glanced around at the entire pipe assembly...there seemed to be many "joints" and clamps...not what I' expect from the factory install...I began to think I had an aftermkt exhaust...then I measured the outlet = 3.5"...maybe not, maybe just a cat delete? If that be the case, am I safe (to mod) with this current setup for a little while...Can I now go for the CAI and Tuner...add the pipe at the end?
here are a couple'a pics...what say you?

thanks for looking!

Looks like it is completely stock to me. ON my 2002 Crew cab I had no cat either from the factory. From my understanding it all depends on where the truck was built for. Like if it was built for cali or somewhere that is big on emissions it will have a cat. But if it was built for a place like Michigan then no cat because Michigan has no emissions on diesels. Well that was before now. Either way I see you still have the muffler on it. I would replace the with straight pipe.

As for modding it, I was modding my truck with the stock exhaust on it. I just straight piped the stock exhaust before I added the ts 6 position chip. If it was me I say go for it and have fun doing it.

all you gotta do is make sure you have guages to keep track of your EGT's and onc eyou get your tuner, you'll be able to get a larger exhaust to bring the temps down -- but can mod with your exhaust as it is

Someone cut the down pipe to do some work... I dont understand why they would but that joint at the down pipe is not factory... but otherwise stock.
