I am going to order my new turbo tomorrow and really use some advice to finalize my pick. I have a 16k toyhuler and live in Az and go to the dunes and up north 7000'. With the stock turbo high egt's and turbo surge and would like a little bit more gusto. I can get the thruster II for 1100 or the 38r for around 1400 (unless someone knows of a place less!) I have read and read post and heard both pro's and con's. I really just need your advice to pull the trigger! Thx for the imput

Beans sd66 or thrusterII but there are many happy 38r owners as well. Afaik the thrusterII is similar to the 38r but has thrust bearings instead of bb. My first choice of these would be the one from Beans, better results than 38R from my reading.
Best of luck, any of the 3 will make you happy; no wrong choice really |

I run the PDR Super GTP. It was designed in house at PDR and built by ADP distributers.
BD used to market it as the thruster. Now someone else makes it and its called the Thruster 2. Weird. Last i looked the Super GTP was on sale for around $950. Spools fast runs cool very serviceable. Ive sold and installed 4 in the last 2 years. Not a single issue or complaint. Whatever you do check your up pipes when its apart. |

The thruster II if found cheap enough is another good option |
