4" Downpipe Q's.
I just wanted to double check something. I called to order some exhuast today and wanted to make sure that I was going to get a 4" downpipe and a 5" the rest of the way out and got told that he only had 3.5" downpipes and that I wouldn't want a 4" dowpipe because I would need a hammer to make it fit. I thought that on the 99.5-2003 7.3L that the 4" downpipe had plenty of room. I know it looks like I could almost fit a 4.5" or 5" dowpipe but maybe I am missing a skinny spot somewhere. I just don't understand because I was under the impression only the 6.0's or OBS trucks had trouble with 4", but this place was supposed to be highly rated from everyone on here and I specifically told them 2000 F350 w/7.3L. Looking forward to getting this thing straight piped...Just need to get some exhaust ordered. Thanks.

Hmmm...That kind of sucks. I don't want to beat in the firewall, but really had my heart set on at least a 4" all the way back. I know a bunch of you have the 4" downpipe....Any of them fit with out "performance modifications" to the firewall?

Not on a 99 - 03 7.3L -- you can fit 4" no problem...
the 6.0 is a slightly different |

Woo-hoo! There is hope after all....lol. Since the responses are split right now I would like a few more confirmations or denials before I go ahead and order it. Looks like I might just end up with 4" all the way back from the turbo though instead of the 5". I guess it should be fine.
On a side note.....Does anyone know about how much the EGT's will go down from the factory exhuast w/ performance muffler to a 4" straight pipe setup? -Aaron |

I don't need to see pictures.
I believe it worked on yours, just making sure it isn't one of those things that only works on some trucks. I don't want to spout off names. (Just don't seem right to me) I just wanted to make double/triple/quadruple sure before I ordered it, because I was told that by a reputable place, and it threw me off. I thought I had done better research than that and it made me feel like an idiot when I told them I wanted that setup and they told me it wouldn't really work. Anyhow, thanks for the reply.-Aaron |

I had no problem getting the 4" in the truck... oh, and there was just another post tonight about a guy installing a 4" turbo back also

It slipped right on up in there, took about 15 seconds to snake it up there, no problem at all.
