Buying Injectors!

Ok well tomorrow afternoon I will be placing my order with Jim Rose of Rosewood Diesel a.k.a. DIY-injectors.com!!! I have been researching the DIY kits for several months now and I decided to finally bite the bullit and get them. I'm going to get the Stage 2 Split-Shot Kit, Jim told me they were good for about 50-60hp depending on how strong my HPOP is. I'm pretty excited about the injector kit, and thought I would share with ya'll. I have heard a bunch of great stuff about the DIY kits, so I feel pretty good about my "soon to be" go fast addition for my rig.

yes they use more high pressure oil, but I dont think I want to convert to single shots. I still haven't ordered them, so I still have time to change my mind, but if I do go to single shots then I need Mass Diesel to re-burn my chip to make them run.

yeah thats true but you wouldnt have to put big oil in it to get the most out of them. i know when i go for new injectors im going single shot with my chip reburnt but im not doing the kit m just buying the injectors. How much are the kits anyway compared to just straight buying them?

the single shot kit is a little over $900, the split shot its a little over $700, and brand new injecotrs are like $2,000+ , plus a core charge. I'm def. going the DIY kit, no way i', spending several thousands on injectors if i can build them myself.

Ok well you guys have gave me something to think about. I'm going to find out monday from Jim Rose and Scott Hovey what exactly it will take to program my truck for single shots then I'll probably go ahead with the single shot kit, I think if i'm going to spend the money, might as well spend it once and get some real HP gains with the singles. (good thing I didnt order the kit yet).

I wonder if on the early 99's you need to run the 99+ injectors. Im no expert but I thought I remember hearing talk of the early 99s having small injectors...Is it possible to use the earlier single shot injectors from 94-97?

physically the injectors are all the same, when they say "smaller injectors" they mean they flow less fuel and produce less power. The truck would run on the 94-97 single shot injectors in my early 99 but i would need programming in order for them to work properly.

I ask because i am interested in running larger single shots on my Early 99 as Tony Wildman suggests so that you don't necessarily need dual HPOPs. He says a good 17* HPOP with larger sized single shots run great. So the question I need answered 100% for certain is can 94-97 160cc single shots be used in a 99+ 7.3 with only the tuning being changed?
