When to replace the HPOP?

I see lots of talk going on regarding HPOP failures. I have no issues with mine at the moment. AFAIK it's still the stock unit, feeding stock injectors. With the expectation that the HPOP will somehow fail on me at some point before I upgrade injectors, would it be harmful to stock injectors to run a better HPOP?

When I do get injectors, I'm going with Stage 1's, as I'm not building a drag truck. With that as the plan, how powerful of an HPOP would I need, or does it even matter so long as I get stronger than stock?

as far as I know; you can run single shots off of a stock pump. The best pump for your money will be the T500. It is every bit as good as the adrenaline and only cost $450ish.

I would imagine that it would be fine to run on stock injectors, but not certain.

Yeah stage 1 and even hybrids can run on a stock pump.

Thank you both. Would I gain anything with an aftermarket pump?

How can I tell if it has an update kit? I've been a diesel owner for not quite 2 months yet, and while it's the same as a gasser as far as it has a rotating assembly and a radiator, I'm still catching on to the rest...

(((Wait))) do you have a 7.3 or 6.0? the kit is for a 6.0, sorry . but if you have a 7.3l i have a friend that has a 2000 7.3 with like 347,00 or somthing crazy, still has a stock hpop. But has looked in to the upgrade and the t500 is the way to go for the money. thanks calvin

I'm a 7.3 guy. You made me scroll to the top to make sure I was in the right place. I'm at 164,xxx right now and the truck didn't come with any problems of note. I suppose if this one ever grenades on me, I'll just upgrade and be happy. The same waiting game I'm playing with the injectors right now.

stock hpop is a 17*... thats PLENTY of oil for stage 1 single's. Hpops dont typically just die.. but if it were to, I'd get a t500 and call it a day.
