PHP, TW, Beans, or DP
Im wanting To get the best bang for my buck on a tuner that's 6 position. I want something for good gas mileage but can still have some fun. And good take off. I have an edge Evolution but I'm looking to get rid of it. I just want everyone's input.

Lope is questionable...
It's not gonna hurt anything, but the most radical cam currently ground for a 7.3 doesn't cause lope. So you're not foolin anybody. And I use Beans... If Beans didn't exist I'd use Gearhead. If they weren't around I'd use PHP. If none of those three were available I'd drive a stock truck. |

Any of the good tuners are good choices.
I had a DP f5 and thought it was great but always had egt issues. I decided to go PHP and like the fu option which is the main reason for going PHP. I have much better results with PHP over DP. PHP TW Beans Gearhead Swamps Bts Tyrant diesel These are all good choices. I would personally recommend calling a few of them that you are really interested in. Ask questions and choose based on what you thought was best. All tuning will yield the same end result but getting ther is where the differences come to play. From what I have read, PHP and beans will be very similar. Gearhead I think will be something similar to these two as well. TW has a slightly more aggressive curve in his tuning. I am not sure about swamps, bts, or tyrant but have heard nothing but good about them all. DP comes on strong and falls off in the end from what I had. Go pedal is a lot more touchy with DP as well. PHP is much more driveable IMO. Buying a chip is like buying a car. There is no wrong way to go and they are similar in performance; just other differences to get you there. You find a car or truck you like and that's what matters. Same with chips, no matter what you get, you will be happy and will be a huge improvement over stock or programmer. As far as mileage, you might as well not even worry about that from a chip. Yes you can gain over stock but I would just prepare for much more power with no loss in fuel mileage. You will just upset yourself if you don't gain expecting that you would. Best of luck |

Tyrant Diesel is Cale Thompson by the way. Son of Brian Thompson, owner of Brian's Truck Shop.
Same tunes either place you buy from. |
