I'm thinking that it is only a dodge thing, but here's a bump, lets see what people have to say!

Yeah that is only a Dodge thing. wish it wasnt but it is.

That's what I thought. I just helped my roommate pull the ring on his 07 Big Horn. If my truck has a silencer ring I have no idea where the little bugger is hiding!

on the cummins turbos, there is a little reduction flange you might say, in the inlet of the turbo, keeps the noise down or some damn chrysler thing. it's a fairly popular cummins mod. we took his out fairly easy, it made the turbo a little louder. it's like the dodge equivalent of foil delete as far as the end result.

what is foil delete? i heard a 7.3 powerstroke around the mall the other day driving around and it looked stock...just a red 4x4 but his turbo was loud as heck!! how would i do that without hurting anything...i just bought mbrp 4" turbo back...will that make the turbo louder?

Acually the silencer ring is on the early model 03, 6.0's it was cast into the turbo. so there was no way to remove it. The foil delete is a small peice of foil thats added to the turbo inlet pipe to reduce turbo noise. i did it, but feel its a waist of time. There was no difference in the before to after.

Actually, if you wanted to, you could break out the dremel and grind down that silencer ring on your 6.0L turbo. a little work, but could be worth it. I'm thinking about getting some stock intake peices (Intake spider) and doing some dremel porting. If I could ever find a 7.3L at a JY I would get some heads and mess with porting the intake and exhaust runners....along with getting some stock exhaust manifolds and porting those....might help a little.
