Hello guys I am going to be up grading my push rods and springs and my hpop over winter. It will be adding quite abit more power. I already have the stage two injectors in it. My question is what can i do to hold the power in my trans? I have asked this question before but i think there is more to it. whats the most common thing that breakson the trans? I have been told to get a BDS valve body and a billet input shaft. should i replace the sprag? Should i just rebuild the thing? I know there is alot of up grades to the accumulator in the trans. can i get a better pump? any in put would be awsome. thanks guys

You could, but it would still come down to the weakest link. Don't quote me but they are drop in units for ~$4500. Price you have to pay for having a slushbox instead of a nice manual.

I recommend to get a BTS as well. There is quite a bit that needs to be replaced and or upgraded internally. Brian replaces and upgrades every part in there. I would not spend all the money you plan just to have something fail, do it right the first time.
John Woods is good too, but I do not like the way he has stages. BTS builds 1 tranny and tunes it for your needs. Basically plan to spend $5k on a BTS. Tranny installed is $4500, but you have misc costs (fluids) plus approx 8% tax if you go there. |

ok. someone said something bout a manual. how beefy are they?

I would take a manual over an auto any day of the week, unfortunately i have an auto, they can take a beating and keep on going even if you roast the clutch, an auto.... Call the tow truck, just like everything else there are some good trannies out there and some bad ones, just my opinion

well i have been thinking pretty heavily about putting a manual in the truck. i have seen a few guys selling the kits they put together but still need the ecu and trans. but i am looking in to making about 550 to 600 hp. so i am worried about breaking it. ( sorry for any spelling errors. just got back from missouri from a funeral.)

previous owner rebuilt the trans with one of these k100 kits and a factorytec valve body:
E4OD, 4R100 Transmission from PATC, E4OD, 4R100 includes billet triple disc converter, new bands and clutches, upgraded unput shaft, and a bunch of other goodies. |

what kind of power are you putting to it though?
i have been really considering a manual. but i know a really good clutch is like two grand. |
