I really don't think just a chip will shorten the life... you're still far from over tuning the motor. The bed/cab will likely rust before you have any kind of engine failure.

I chipped my truck at 24K. I have 163K on it now. Plus alot of other power upgrades along the way to my current 471hp as of 2 weeks ago. I tow a 10K trailer half of the miles to boot.

Just watch your EGT's. That will kill your truck faster than anything.

My truck was unknowingly chipped for AT LEAST 50k... I just upgraded to Dp tuner myself.

I put 40k on mine with a chip, and know guys that have chipped when new and have over 200k with no engine problems. As long as you have gauges and routine maint. should be set.

I'm really trying to get 400+ thousand out of mine, because I need it to tow my cattle, and I know its going to be a LONG time before I can make that kind of purchase again

With a chip gauges are a must. Put in gauges before anything if you tow.

For a great towing setup, I would do the ATS housing, 1.0 exhaust housing, BTS valve body Gauges, ITP overboost annihilator and the DP-Tuner chip.

The intercooler is unnecessary, plus the banks unit is overpriced. But if you have a ton of money burning a hole in your pocket, the spearco is cheaper by a couple hundred bucks.

I have a stock intercooler and my truck makes 471hp with a stock intercooler. I don't see the advantage on a tow rig.

It will help lower the EGT's when you are towing. Heat is your worst enemy. I dropped over 100* when towing with my DP chip after I switched to a 1.0 exhaust housing. I was finally able to tow in my 80 tow tune most of the time.
