Gauges or Ts Chip.
I was wondering what I should get first. Ts chip or gauges. Has anyone had any experience with the edge insight or should I just stick with regular gauges.
Thanks in advance. |

The Edge can be nice, but you'll still need senders/probes/etc for anything that it can't monitor. Trans temp, egt's, and fuel pressure I think will have to be added.
But definitely monitor before tuning. |

gauges then ts because eventully your gonna want injectors and you cant with an edge...

I went with the Insight because I had regular gauges in all of my other trucks and wanted something different this time. Mine reads tranny temp without a separate sending unit. I added the egt sensor pre turbo and thats it. I like the fact that it reads and clears codes too. Both are good I think its just personal choice. One thing I hated about the insight is it only came with a windshield suction mount that looked like crap so I had to buy a $50 dash pod.

I went with the Edge Insight CTS and I love it! I added the expandable EGT probe to it and it pretty much monitors everything I need. I have it set to monitor EGT, Tranny temp, Boost, Oil temp, and corrected speed due to larger tires. It can monitor a whole lot more than this though. I actually like how I have mine suctioned to the windshield right now. I got the CTS for the larger touch screen and the fact that I can add a camera and use the CTS as its monitor. I think Edge just started running a $40 rebate for the unit as well.
I agree that you should get your gauges before your chip. You need to monitor what's going on with the engine before you make tuning modifications to it. This is why I have my gauges, but I'm on the hunt for a chip now. Good luck! |

get a DPtuner Chip first! you will be happier with that first. plus better gas mileage and performance

you don't even have one so how do you know? gauges are nice but not required if you have a brain, and no way i would get tunes from dp, too many better options out there

My vote goes to gauges, yeah you can just go easy on the throttle with the tunes first but you still will have no idea whats going on, if you have boost leaks, egt problems or trans temp...
