Here's the plan...2002 Excursion 7.3....
so I'm getting the AFE Stage I, 4 inch straight pipe turbo back exhaust, SuperChips tuner, Full gauges.
Now does someone make a turbo timer for these motors??? What would some other good mod's be??? Oh yeah, lift kit tires all that fun stuff too. |

dont really think youll need a turbo timer.... how high you want to go i say you go at least 6" of lift
and i would get the AFE stage 2 if your already going to get an intake why not get the best....oh and skip the superchips and get the Edge Evo 2 with the digital gauges..... just my opinion though

Lift is going to be a custom 10 inch lift, and I really can't see a reason to spend and extra $200 for a Stage II. What would the advantages be on the Edge Evo over the Superchips, i'm not familiar with that product.

i just sold my superchips for custom tunes .. superchips was decent but there is better out there

biggest advantage is the built in digital gauges.... so you get gauges and a programmer in 1 package.... i use the Evo on my own truck and love it.... here is a link to it Edge Evolution 2 Programmer FORD 7.3 POWERSTROKE 1999-2003 i sell both superchips and Edge and i sell way more Edge than i do SuperChips

So that EDGE EVO 2 programmer is better than the super chips?
I am looking for more towing capability, longevity and fuel economy. I'm not looking for speed nor do I ever driver over 80 mph, so is this the one that is going to make me happy with the mods i have planned. Also, lets say in the near future I go to larger injectors and a better turbo (mild, not wild) would this EDGE be able to meet my demands? |

i like the Evo better than the superchips.... i run mine on tow all the time and constantly load my bed with a full pallet of stone or dirt with the pallet weighing in at lil over 4k and it pulls hard.. fuel mileage (as long as you keep your foot out of it) will go up slightly... and if you ever go with bigger sticks or turbo you will be happy to know that a very good custom programmer is going to make some tunes that youll be able to download to the evo and use them... so you'll later on be able to get custome tunes for your setup if you wish

Here is whats on the wifes X... Custom Chip From Elite Diesel, Turbonetics Turbo, AFE stage 2, Quad pod of gauges on the overhead, 6" lift and 37" toyo MT's...
Stage 2 injectors are sitting in the garage waiting for mine to be running again and a Sperco IC will go in... Right now she is at 325HP-700TQ. The Injectors and IC will put her right at 400hp. I would skip the cookie cutter programers and tuners and go with something you can grow into later. A chip IMHO is the only way to go, shift on the fly, more ajustablity, better tunes and cheaper in the long run... There is a HUGE differance in the stage 1 and stage 2 intakes... You would not think so but I went from a stage 1 to a stage 2 and dropped 75 degrees in EGT and picked up about 30hp. The stage 1 is nothing more then a new filter... |

CSIPSD don't mess around and has never steered me wrong. I have leaned the hard way so don't cheat yourself. programmers are great, but you you have big dreams for turbos and sticks, get a chips and you will be thankful you did.
