I second waiting on exhaust. use that money for your chip.
I used to have a 99 cc 4x4 LWB SRW. I only put guages and TS chip (canned tunes) never had an issue with egt's. I used to pull loaded trailers, etc with no issues at all and this was on 120 race setting IIRC. The only issue was surge with stock turbo.
My current truck; I have done all kinds to and have always had egt issues and now a slight loss in boost anlong with crappy fuel mileage (10winter & 12-12.5summer).
Depending on your plans; I will honestly say that guages, ts style chip and something to fix turbo surge is all the avg guy needs. I wouldn't mess with all the other little mods, unless you really want to.
EDIT: the only other mod worthwhile is a 6.0 tranny cooler
