6.0 intercooler???

Anyone think this a good mod?? I was told this is an inexpensive mod for our trucks??? I am concerned the 6.0 intercooler has plastic tanks while ours are metal?? am I overthinking the intercooler plastic and just get one? I plan on taking my front end off anyway(2006 front end mod and I just got my 6.0 transmission cooler) thanks, Floyd in AZ

If you get it for really really cheap it would be plausible but it will take some new boots to make it work. If i could go back i wouldnt have done it.

I put one on my truck. I was planning on replacing the boots anyway so that was a wash. I paid $80 I think for the intercooler and sold my 7.3 one to an OBS guy for something close to that.

I see no change running empty. Pulling my 12k 5er I see maybe 25 to 50 deg less but only when running HARD with the camper. Over all, its not really worth it. For me it was since I ended up paying almost nothing. There are better things to do to reduce EGTs

Even if it was FREE; I would not recommend wasting the time for the swap.
I took one from an 06 and put it in and went for a drive; no noticeable difference and a big waste of my time. Put my stocker back in.

The 6.0 tranny cooler is a good investment, but not IC. If you want a better IC; save for a spearco or something.

on a side note; My 03 has plastic tanks and not metal and its just fine.

I have to agree with everyone else. I saw no difference in temps with the 6.0 cooler. Fortunately it only cost me $20 after selling my old one.

Who can I sell my stock 7.3 cooler to? Whats an OBS guy? Sorry for the ignorance here

the 95 to early 99s did not have an IC on them. Those are the OBS (old body style) trucks. The IC from a 7.3 fits in them and its a good upgrade. I think you need a bunch of other parts too make it all work along with the IC
