BD thruster turbo

anyone have one? if so how do you like it? how about performance over stock? i can get one for the third of price of 38r and would like to get rid of the stocker just lookin for improvement over the stock and possible future stage 1s

I just installed one about a month ago and love it! A big selling point for me was the rebuildability, vs. the 38r.

hows the whistle? being it has 1.0 exhaust housing does that affect spool up?

if you want rebuildability you should have gotten a sd66. bd doesn't have a good rep, i would stay away. you can get a 38r for 1299 from dieselsite or a sd66 with 1.15 exhaust housin for 1399 from beans

Great advice. I know this first hand.

Apparently its a copy of the PDR SUPER GTP. That is made in house for PDR by ADP Distributers.

I have this turbo (SUPER GTP). I love this turbo. It runs cool on the hottest tunes with my stock injectors. Even towing. Spools lightening fast. Inexpensive to rebuild/service if needed.(40,000 hard trouble free miles on mine so far) I ve sold a bunch to other diehard 7.3L fans. Always positive feedback. even on stock injector rigs.

Its relatively inexpensive And on sale right now.

That turbo is just an sd66 i guess, they wont say what the inducer size is. The .84 exhaust housin diesn't fancy me though. Egts would be higher as well as drive pressure. After you upgrade to a 1.0 or 1.15 you could have an sd66 from beans with the larger turbine wheel..

Mine should be here tommorow. I bought mine after reading a thread on here where someone with thousands of posts compared one to the 38r and claimed according to paper specs it should perform as good if not better than a 38r. And the fact that its rebuildable doesnt hurt the decision. I do not know Which is a BETTER turbo but if their in direct competition thats gotta say something. My question is, Should I be anxious to bolt this sucker on? will I notice a performance increase? i just installed the t500, and Bills tunes (which I love!) I noticed the factory one in my truck breaks 30psi wide open.
I plan on running it at 35psi max without headstuds.. good idea, or asking for it?

Oh yeah.. And how is the whistle?? no one answered.

Hey Bruce, where can you get an sd66 and who is beans? whats the main diff between a sd66 and the gtp38r? Cost? works with stock injectors? im just asking around so i dont end up getting something thats not gonna work for me. Thx
