Programmers/chips and MPG?
A friend of mine just bought a Bully Dog programmer-Power Pup with Outlook I believe-which it would APPEAR has increased his mileage significantly. Now he's just going by the factory computer in the instrument cluster, so there's no telling if that's accurate or not..but it got me to thinking! I know, a dangerous thing!
All the makers claim an increase in mileage AND performance, but which ones really do both, and to what levels can you increase both? I guess this might be close to the 'best chip' question, but I'm just curious if there is any info like an actual mileage comparison, etc.? Thanks! |

Most tuners will claim an improvement, but it all depends on how you drive. If you can keep your foot out of it you could see better mileage. From my experiance, mileage stays about the same, you just get more power. If you get a chip, you can choose the tunes that are right for you. I'm running a Tony Wildman chip, and love it. chip will give ya better mileage if ya keep your foot out of it..my superchips i had and my exhaust and intake gave me a 4-5 mpg gain on the highway..I have tony wildman tunes on the way im thinking they might not give as good of mileage since they are custom tuned to my needs ... thats wide open balls out driving..lol
