Garret 38R BB or Stocker with upgrades
Hi Guys,
Im new to this website and have found much interesting as well as useful information on here. My question is regarding turbo's. I currently have a 2000 F250 7.3 with banks power mods (wastegate actuator, transcommand, monster dual exhaust), Edge Products 3 stage programmer (running stage 2), and a K/N intake. I have noticed lately that the turbo makes a bunch of noise but the truck doesnt seem to go any faster when I put my foot into it. Now to my question...... Looking to upgrade the turbo in some form. Would it be better to keep the stock turbo and rebuild it with aftermarket parts (i.e. Banks Wheel, hot side housing, wicked wheel, etc.) or would it be more beneficial to just upgrade to the Garret Powermaxx GTP38R Ball Bearing Turbo??? Sorry for the long story, Thanks in advance!

Well the most beneficial thing you could do is get some good tunes. As for turbos, 38r hands down.

Yeah get rid of that edge, its just gonna burn up your trans and then youll have to replace that first before you can get a turbo. Those things are only good for burning up trannys.

That was gonna be one of my next questions... Does it produce some whistle? I'd love to have more turbo whistle. Also, does anyone know where to get good tunes in CT?

It produces alot of whistle throughout the cab. I love it, some say it gets annoying but not me
