edge evo. questions
ok i just got a edge evo. the new version that mounts to the dash. before i just had a 90hp superchip that ford installed before i bought my truck, it craped out so ford set the truck back to factory. so i picked up this programmer. i didn't have any gauges before so it is nice this one has them on the screen. but now it is telling me all these numbers like EGTs, EOT, TFT, boost psi i know what these are i just don't know what too high of a number is for these. and is the black smoke going to hurt anything because i really like all the black smoke it is nothing compared to what i've seen from your videos but it is good for me.

Well, I guess everyone has their limits of what they will take theirs to. I don't like to run much over 1000 for more than a handful of seconds for EGT, but I have been known to get 1300-1350 momentarily. Boost is more of a mileage/troubleshooting reference or for bragging rights. Transmission is best if kept under 175 or so, but sometimes towing it is almost impossible. I did see a chart somewhere about the life of trans fluid at different temps (If I find it, I will post it up). I can't really help you with oil temp, because I don't really know what is good or bad, I just always assumed mine was good as long as all the other readings were where they belonged. Hope this helps, I'm sure someone will jump all over me if I am way off.

Ok...The charts says @
175 it(the transmission fluid) should last 100,000 miles 195 it should last 50,000 miles 215 it should last 25,000 miles 235 it should last 12,500 miles 255 it should last 6,250 miles 275 it should last 3,000 miles 295 it should last 1,500 miles and at...... 315 you get about 750. Oh yeah, and it also mentions that anything above 300 and clutches and seals burn up and the metals warp and distort. This should probably be close in theory to what you should get. I didn't remember the exact number but when I was in college for auto and light truck repair they had a similar life expectancy at certain temps. Basically I have always heard try and keep it under 200. Hope this helps. -Aaron |

On Egt i think your good until eighter 1250 or 1400 I know 1400 is bad but not sure what is good, i guess. And for the oil temp I just look at the guage that is in the dash. And GreenF350 pretty much covered the tranny temps. Hope I helped!!!!
