i was told the deep pans use a filter spacer. is this true

Howdy! What deep pan are you talking about, my guess is that its the transmission deep pan. If that is the case NO it does not need a filter spacer, but I would do a 6.0 tranny cooler before a deep pan, the benefits will be much greater that way. Also an external filter kit is always nice.

Its a much better bang for your buck as far as keeping the trans cool when compared to a deep pan. I've heard a few people notice no difference in trans temp after switching to a deep pan.

ijust found a tru cool cooler 12x11x34 gvw 22,000 for 76 bucks thats a better why to go in book

I was just saying that the better cost is spent on a different cooler. I did the deep pan first and noticed literally no difference in temps maybe 10 degrees at best. When it rained I did notice a huge difference. The only reason I say the 6.0 tranny cooler is the best alternative is that it makes a massive difference, my transmission since the install has not seen above 165 degrees! That intense but I do want to see what it will do int he summer...especially out here. Just saying if you are spending over 100 dollars on cooler parts, just save up and get a 6.0 tranny cooler. Also the added fluid costs a lot more, I believe its 7 qts more than normal, and that is definately a large influx in $$$

i understand what you were try to say but i think the 6.0 cooler is over price and theres better ones out there for less and the deep pan 7.5 qt bigger you only changeevery 30,000 miles so it won't be that bad. my set is going to be deep pan then the bypass filter which will give me alittle extra cooling the change out the stock cooler to tru cool 12x15x3/4 cooler then see how long the tranny well last, i'm trying the make the tranny to last as long it can and maybe jon woods vb
