Transmission Question.

So my lovely Excursion has 260k on her. She still tows decent, but I know time is short and well I love to tow my jeep around so it is that time to start pinching pennies to get a new one in there.... I was thinking since I hated the 4 speed auto I would try to find a new torqshift 6 speed. Anybody done this swap yet? Do they (BTS,Suncoast) make a 6 speed auto trans for the 7.3l's? Thanks a lot guys/gals!

just not worth the time or money to swap in a 6r140. it would have to have a stand alone controller and such. just get a bts and call it a day

well I mean if it works all out to be the same price I think it is worth it. Hard to cough up 4kish for a trans that is not a 6 speed. I can tell you tho I am sick of the 4 speed hah.

If you wanna spend about the same, swap in a ZF6. I doubt swapping in a 6R140 and making it work would be the same as a BTS.

it may not be a 6 speed but it will handle some power. has a lifetime warranty. what is your big gripe with the 4 forward gears?

I love the manuel in my vehicles. I can tell ya it is nice to drive a auto sometimes lol. I love gearing and well with 4 forward gears you cant get to deep and have it still go down the highway at 70. So I will most likely do what you guys say just like the option
