Bullydong Chip Question
My buddy ordered a newer PCM for his truck and it came with a chip attached to it. He said i can have it. I have some questions about this chip though. What can anyone tell me about it? Its a bullydong chip that plugs into the PCM, and printed on it says, Bullydog Technologies Rev.7. Its got 3 wires that run to the switch, and the switch is a 3 way toggle type switch. Anyone know what the power settings would be or if this chip can be retuned by any of the custom tuners?

Jake, The chip is more than likely an older style TS position chip.
I don't know that Bullydog ever used anything but TS blanks, I could be wrong though. If its a TS, then yes, it can be reformatted and flashed by a tuner. Can you post a pic of it? |

Yep. The switch is just a 3 position, up, middle, down.

Thats what happens when you are your own/friends/family's mechanic.

Don't know about that one, send that pic to Bill at Powerhungry Performance, he might no. Almost looks like the SCT style chips.

I'm not sure whose chip that is. It's not an SCT because SCT only has one connector and they use a Lattice CPLD chip, not Altera. Moates uses Xilinx and so does TS, so that kinda leaves them out as well. The Van Aaken style chips have a single connector on the side (see this thread... Old Van Aaken Chip. - PowerStrokeNation : Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum) so I don't think it's that either. The only other one I'm aware of is from TTS, and they have some gawd-awful ribbon cable setup that's nothing like yours.
I really would be inclined to think it might be an SCT chip based on the design of the connector, but if it is then it's probably an old version and I don't know if the current hardware supports it. Are there ANY signifying marks on the chip, such as date-of-manufacture or any other kind of lettering that might provide a clue? |
