Future planning...Turbo, injectors, fuel system.
Alright so ive been doing alot of reading on this site and in diesel power mag about performance set ups for my early 99 PSD. Originally i was thinking compound turbos but after doing some reading i dont think that will be the right set up for me. Im shooting for around 500 hp as a play toy to take road trips to the dunes in. I have read that right around 500 hp you will be on the edge of needing to do internal engine work and being safe with out it ( according to diesel powe atleast ) i would like to try to keep it in the safe zone without needing internal work, but should it grenade i want to have the mods to move it to the next level as i would rebuild at that point.
So im thinking stage 3 hybrids? ive read that you can tune them down but at the same time have enough injector for big power down the road.
For the HPOP ive been reading what i can find about the adrenalin. yesterday i found a small amount of info on this new SR1 pump? but i dont know much about it. when i first started getting into this truck i like the idea of the terminator but from what i could find to read about it i thought it sounded like a second pump and not a primary... which made me think do i need a good stock replacement like the adrenalin and a terminator? or would something else work better for the numbers im shooting for?
Exhaust, im stuck on the MBRP 5" for the looks sounds and of coarse performance, i would also like to get some bellowed up pipes to get rid of any problems i may have in the future.
The turbo seems to be the most difficult choice for me to make, I thought maybe a GTP38R but then the H2e sounded like an awesome set up or maybe a t4 mount because i can upgrade in the future if the truck ever blows up lol.
I would like to also do head studs and maybe fire rings if that is even something you can do with these trucks but i dont want to get too carried away internally like i mentioned.
The fuel system is another thing im totally lost on, Im not sure what needs to be done with it. I have read there are kits out there for $1300 or so to do a fuel bowl delete i belive? Im not really sure where to learn more about this portion.
I would really like advice and websites i can get most of these parts. Ive been looking at alligatorperformance and tony wildmans site.
